Cytokinins – regulators of de novo shoot organogenesis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Plants, unlike animals, possess a unique developmental plasticity, that allows them to adapt changing environmental conditions. A fundamental aspect of this plasticity is their ability undergo postembryonic de novo organogenesis. This requires the presence regulators trigger and mediate specific spatiotemporal changes in programs. The phytohormone cytokinin has been known as principal regulator plant development for more than six decades. In shoot organogenesis vitro regeneration, cytokinins are prime candidates signal determines identity. Both processes apical meristem accompanied by gene expression, cell fate reprogramming, switching-on shoot-specific homeodomain regulator, WUSCHEL. Current understanding about role regeneration will be discussed.

De novo Shoot Organogenesis from Cultured Root Explants of Swertia chirata Buch.-Ham.ex Wall.: An Endangered Medicinal Plant

In vitro regeneration of plants from root cultures of Swertia chirata Buch.-Ham. ex Wall was obtained. Root explants from axenic shoot cultures were used for shoot induction. Optimal shoot regeneration without any callus intervention was observed on 1/2 MS (Murashige and Skoog’s medium, 1962) + 4.44 μM 6, benzylaminopurine (BAP) +1.07 μM α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA).Regenerated shoots were f...

De novo purine synthesis in cultured rat embryos undergoing organogenesis.

The cultured rat embryo undergoing organogenesis (9.5-11.5 days of gestation) together with its associated yolk sac synthesize purine nucleotides via the de novo synthetic pathway. Although both the embryo and its yolk sac contain significant levels of the purine base salvage enzymes adenine phosphoribosyltransferase and hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase, the culture medium that consists l...

A simple method suitable to study de novo root organogenesis

De novo root organogenesis is the process in which adventitious roots regenerate from detached or wounded plant tissues or organs. In tissue culture, appropriate types and concentrations of plant hormones in the medium are critical for inducing adventitious roots. However, in natural conditions, regeneration from detached organs is likely to rely on endogenous hormones. To investigate the actio...

Cytokinins are central regulators of cambial activity.

The roots and stems of dicotyledonous plants thicken by the cell proliferation in the cambium. Cambial proliferation changes in response to environmental factors; however, the molecular mechanisms that regulate cambial activity are largely unknown. The quadruple Arabidopsis thaliana mutant atipt1;3;5;7, in which 4 genes encoding cytokinin biosynthetic isopentenyltransferases are disrupted by T-...
